2013 Cabernet Sauvignon, Rancho Salina Vineyard

Rancho Salina Vineyard sits at over 900 feet in elevation in the southern reaches of the Mayacamas mountains, in the Moon Mountain AVA overlooking the southern Sonoma Valley. Red, rocky volcanic soils yield well-structured Cabernet Sauvignon which is tempered with judicious amounts of Cabernet Franc and Merlot. Malbec brings a deep purple hue and a sweet roundness to the final blend. The primary vineyard for our Heritage Reserve Cabernet, in 2013 we were able to craft a stand-alone wine from this unique property. It shows dense color and structure, bright aromas of violets and blueberries, and ripe fruit flavors reminiscent of cherries, chocolate and cassis. Well-integrated tannins, oak and acidity give it a rich texture and a long, elegant finish. It can be enjoyed on release paired with rich meats and cheeses, yet will reward cellaring for a decade or more
